TV anchor premieres children's book at Lemuria Thursday
"I hope to see you and your children
this Thursday at Lemuria Books for my first reading and signing of Milly Mills Reporting Live! We'll take photos and have a lot of fun! I bet we'll even have some future
TV anchors there!"
Allie Ware, a well-known television journalist in Jackson, Mississippi, has written a children's book about a girl who dreams of becoming a TV journalist. The book is published by LifeStory Publishing.
The book, Milly Mills Reporting Live, is one Ware says she has been writing in her head since she was in high school.
The signing starts at 4:30 p.m. with a reading at 5:30 p.m. at Lemuria Books, 4465 I-55 in Jackson.
Ware has been working in broadcast journalism since 2011 and holds several Associated Press awards. Her work has been featured on national television networks.
Since junior high school, Ware has been writing short stories. Her book follows nine-year-old Milly Mills as she watches a reporter on television talk about Hurricane Katrina. The reporter was so calm in the midst of the storm, and Milly knew that one day she wanted to do the same thing. The story is a lesson for children to follow their dreams.
The book is illustrated in colored pencil drawings by Ware’s mother, Alecia Cuppy.
Ware says she plans on writing a second Milly Mills book in the near future.
Milly Mills Reporting Live retails for $15 and is available at local bookstores. Also follow the Milly Mills Facebook page!
