The heat and humidity of the south doesn’t keep us from loving a great cup of coffee and the aroma of our favorite coffee shops. Coffee adds an element of creativity, caffeine creates an environment for great conversations and coffee shops are the perfect space for rejuvenation and relaxation. We've found eight trendy coffee hotspots in the south with delightful caffeine creations and foamy masterpieces to delight even the most astute coffee aficionado.

Houndstooth Coffee (Austin, Texas)

What started as an affinity for coffee and coffee shop culture has grown into a love for sharing quality beverages at Houndstooth Coffee in the Austin and Dallas, Texas communities. Why the name, Houndstooth? Scottish legend holds that Houndstooth was one of the first simple plaids. These plaids came to serve as regional identities for the people of Scotland. All were all Scotsman, but each took pride in their specific plaid.

Today coffee shops have become like regional identities for people. As a locally owned and operated business, Houndstooth Coffee seeks to be an integral pattern in the fabric of the Texas coffee community. Their seasonal menu, like the decadent harvest latte pictured below, is a delicious blend of flavors from butternut & acorn squash, pumpkin and sweet potato with a dash of spice. All drinks are designed to entice regulars out of their normal drink patterns to try something that is visually stunning and also tastes great.

Cups thrives in the vibrantly creative hub, the Fondren community, where thinkers and doers convene over a cup of barista made coffee.
