Amazing Apple Orchard Adventures

September 28, 2017

With the official arrival of fall many turn to thoughts of festive activities to celebrate the season. There is nothing quite like the unforgettable experience of a visit to an apple orchard for an afternoon of apple picking. Fill a bag with favorite, fresh apples of your choice as you enjoy cool, fall breezes with the alluring aroma of apple cider doughnuts lingering in the air. The United States boasts many celebrated apple orchards  to share meaningful memories with loved ones in your life. We have found four amazing apple orchards that are waiting for you to don your favorite flannel shirt and pick apples to your heart's content.

Applecrest Farm Orchards (New Hampshire)

Applecrest Farm Orchards is the oldest and largest apple orchard in New Hampshire.  Nearly a century ago, an "Apple Train" ran its weekly route from the heart of Boston to the rolling orchards of Applecrest Farm. People mostly drive here now, but the farm remains as New Hampshire's oldest and largest apple orchard. It's the oldest continuously-operated in America.

Sky Top Orchard (North Carolina)

The mountains of western North Carolina are full of pick your own u-pick orchards. Sky Top Orchard has sweeping, panoramic mountain views, orchard ponds with ducks and geese, a barnyard area with sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys, peacocks and more, a bamboo forest to explore, lots of picnic areas and, of course, a mountaintop of fragrant apple and fruit trees.

When you purchase a bushel of apples, a wagon load of pumpkins or a cooler full of apple cider you'll take home more than the makings for delicious fall recipes - you'll take home a mountain of memories too. Don't forget about their famous apple cider doughnuts, which are an autumn tradition.

Honey Pot Hill Orchards (Massachusetts)

Venture a little less than an hour outside of Boston, Massachusetts, to Honey Pot Hill Orchards to choose from delicious and bountiful fruits of the best of New England’s apples. With over 200 acres of scenic apple orchards to enjoy, Honey Pot Hill Orchards has been a family owned and operated farm since 1926. Save room for their amazing apple cider doughnuts - a must-have tasty treat!

Mercier Orchards (Georgia)

Mercier Orchards is a family owned and operated apple orchard now in its fourth generation. Started back in 1943 by Bill & Adele Mercier, Mercier Orchards is now celebrating over 70 years of fruitful harvests! The combination of their U-PICK events, Bakery & Deli, Market Store, and now Farm Winery makes Mercier Orchards a great choice for an unforgettable apple orchard visit!
